Madisound—probably the largest U.S. distributor of speaker drivers for the do-it-yourself market. Extensive links to manufacturers. A large and lively discussion board (which I find to be full of folk-lore and of dubious value). Zalytron—distributor of high quality speaker drivers & components at good prices.

Theory of Acoustics & Loudspeakers Linkwitz Lab—the best single source for advanced thinking about loudspeaker design. Mr. Linkwitz is a developer of the Linkwitz-Riley crossover used in THX systems, has published broadly, and offers science-based information on acoustics and speakers, backed-up by experimental data. The most authoritative source of accurate information on sound reproduction that I have found. Art Ludwig's sound page—excellent derivations of the physics of sound, though the approach to speaker design is fairly conventional (and consequently limited).

Cooking
